Online Marketing versus Traditional Marketing.
The obvious difference between online marketing and traditional marketing is the online aspect, which comes from the internet and its development.
In todays world specifically the marketing world the internet rules it all. The internet is the way that everyone communicates today, and marketers have turned this to their advantage.
First we must look at traditional marketing before the internet. Before the internet Marketers were forced to market on a very limited scale. Marketers worked by word of mouth mostly. This limited marketers in their ability to capture potential customers. For example if a marketer was trying to sell their products to a potential customer they would be forced to try and create a visual image to their audience of what their product can give them. Now if they were to create this image this only lasts for a short amount of time. This inevitably sets marketers and their brands up for short term success not long term success.
Now with the new online marketing the game has changed. Marketing has changed completely. It is everywhere! That being said marketer now are able to create a visual image of what their products can give their consumers that will lasts. Lets take Coke for example their are able to market all over the internet. They have a Facebook, Twitter Personal Website, and several more social media outlets. These social media outlets allow for consumers and potential consumers to be able to see what Coke give them now and in the long run. If that isn't enough Coke has partnered with several different celebrities like Taylor Swift, and Beyonce. This allows Coke to reach a whole new audience.

Blog Assignment #4
"can not argue creativity when it is based off of someone
else's stuff. "...why not?
Girl Talk argues that several artist steal from each other. Using
the same notes as one song, but rearranging it in a different order.
The author of the video says that copywriter has become this big
argument between people and the label industry on who gets to make money.
Fair use is a part of copy writes law that allows for free
use. Where someone can use a work to justify a point of certain use. Invoking
free speech to make a comment.
This so called remixing that people do with others products
is writing in the 21st century. This writing is a form of
expression.
Transformative use is
a new addition to the fair use law. Transformative use is when a person takes
another persons work and transforms it into their own in order to make a new point.
In order to do this within U.S. law the person must transform the original work
so that it has a different purpose from the original. For example Girl Talk was
able to take four different songs and create his own. Girl Talk used these
songs and transformed it enough so that someone would recognize the song was by
Girl Talk, and not the Jackson 5 or whoever else. What really makes Girl Talk’s
songs a transformative work is the fact that he adds in his own samples of
music within the mash up of other known songs. This is known as adding value to
the original work.

The link above takes you to a Ted talk. This Ted talk is titled How To Make A Splash In Social Media. The speaker, Alex Ohaniana of Reddit, discusses how the internet can help accomplish many different tasks due to it interactive nature.
Alex says that in 2009 a group of individuals started posting news of the Japanese government and their humpback whale campaign on Reddit. These whales were being killed and a non profit organization called Greenpeace wanted to put an end to it. Reddit allows millions of people everyday to post and share stuff instantly! This group of people was able to raise awareness by creating a logo/brand image for their "campaign" so to speak, called Mr. Splashy Pants. Several million people liked this campaign and Greenpeace was able to stop this whale killing through the interactivity of Reddit. The amount of people that saw and liked Greenpeace's posts were able to be measure on Reddit.
This is a clear example of interactivity.

Blog assignment #2
1. The law that I agree with the most would be Sarnoff's
Law, which deals with media networks. Sarnoff's law states that the value of a
broadcast network increases linearly with the number of people within it,
meaning that the value of a network is proportional to the number of viewers it
has.
I believe this is true in many cases if not all media networks.
Most media networks are built off of the concept of "views" or
"likes." These "views" or "likes" represent the
amount of people who are interested in the content that a particular network
displays. Views/likes represent how many people actually take the time to stop
and look at the content on a network, which ultimately shows how valuable a
media network is. A prime example of Sarnoff's Law would be Youtube. Youtube is
a website based primarily off of "views." On Youtube people post
videos in hopes to achieve as many views as possible. These views are a sort of
currency for users. The more views that a video has the more valuable it
becomes. Advertisers will see that a video has potential and realizes that it
will become very popular. So they will pay the users to put an ad in front of
their video so that their ad can reach potential viewers. As the amount of
views increases the value of the video increases as well.
2. I think that people will get
information five years from now the same way that people get their information
now, which is through several different media outlets. The only thing that I
think will change from now and five years from now is the speed that we can get
information. I think that media networks will continue to increase as times
goes on, increasing the speed at which people can receive information. This
could result in world domination so we must be careful!!!

Engagement: Social media allows for people to be engaged with their celebrities online
Interaction: The skater kid that was youtube famous, interaction with him allowed for his friend to get more likes if the kid was involved in the video.
Reach: The vampire diaries. Ian somerhalder was able to reach 5.4 million people with one of his photos on twitter.
Target: hitting your target audience with select advertisements on social media.
What does "Like"ing someone's post on Facebook means to you?
I have always been out of touch with the social media world. When Facebook came out I created a profile, but I never really paid that much attention to it. For me Facebook was this thing that I go on when I was bored. However, as time went on the more frequent I would get on Facebook I would notice that people had sent me friend request, and they had like my photos! People realize that there are millions of people in the world and on Facebook, but when someone takes the time to like your photo it makes you feel like you feel significant, and well "liked" by others.
Does knowing that others "Like" what you "Like" influence you? I think so because if you know that others like what you like then you feel sort of connected to these people. Having a connection with people results in someone understanding where you come from, which I believe can allow friendships to be formed.
Explain the concept of the "influencer."
Oreo question: Oreo was able to advertise an image that spoke volumes to a large audience. That being those who were in favor of gay marriage. They advertised this image all over social media, which allowed them to share their image with millions of people. In return one million people liked this image. This allowed Oreo to advertise its product and connect one million potential costumers on a emotional level. This brought in at least a million more customers for the Oreo company.
How do companies use social media to advertise? Companies can post products on social media outlets, which will result in likes or dislikes. If a product is liked by several thousands or even millions of people then they have just connected with several thousand or millions of potential customers. They also will allow high profiled users on social media to share their products for them. If say a high profiled user likes or follows several different clothing brands then all of the followers that follow this high profiled user will be able to see what brands he/she likes. In return this allows the brand to be advertised through social media users.
How are marketers building "brand trust" online? By the number of likes that a brand is able to obtain. If a brand has several million likes then they have had several million people s take the time to basically say that they like this brand. So from there if someone is on social media and sees that Oreos got one million likes on their post then that person may be convinced to like the product also because so many people have related the brand with a positive image a "like."
How do celebrities : fame by association. Several celebrities will partner with brands to create a campaign like the one that Beyonce did with Pepsi. Where fans or non fans could send pepsi their selfie and could included in the intro video during Beyonce's half time performance at the super bowl. This allows people to possible have a chance to connect with their celebrities idols, which in return raises brand awareness and potential customers.
What is Corporate Sponsorship? When companies pay to be associated with certain events or people.
Are marketers being transparent or invisible? No
How is the Hunger Games plot like advertising? That is a due or die. Everyone wants to have as many likes like in the hunger games. The more likes that you have then the more likely you are to live in relation to the Hunger Games, but in the social media world the more likes the longer you will stay relevant and make money.
